Where is good place to buy individual health care insurance

Where is good place to buy individual health care insurance?
I am a part-time worker and I am looking into buying individual health insurance. Who are some reputable companies to look at.
What can I expect to pay for basic coverage?

Rates for coverage vary a lot due to many factors; you can look online for quotes, then speak to the agents that will contact you
2 :
To be perfectly honest with you, I'd be a little hesitant in purchasing any health Ins. right now. The way congress is going, it's a role of the dice as to what's going to happen with any individual policies right now. If there is a definite health need to purchase , I'd start with the state licensed BC & BS. policy. Rather expensive but they would be in an inside position to see the changes coming down the pike and give you adequate time to make any adjustments.
3 :
See a local insurance broker who handles individual health plans. They can give options and costs. There's no cost or obligation to ask.
4 :
I can't state enough how important it is to shop around. To be honest I've found them all to be expensive. I looked at benefits from Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Blue Choice of SC, Aetna, and a couple others I'd never heard of and the lowest rate I was quoted for single coverage was for $191.00 per month. Most of the plans I looked at didn't provide co-pays and had high deductibles. Unfortunately individual insurance policies can be quite costly. The good thing is that you can attempt to claim them on your taxes, provided your medical costs, to include health insurance premiums that aren't pre-tax, come to at least 7.5% of your annual income. Hope you have better luck than I have finding a reasonably priced plan. Best of luck!
5 :
If you are pretty young, say 20 years old, insurance is not that expensive but if not, how can you afford a private policy on a part-time job? If you don't have too many medical problems you can go to a community clinic and pay on a sliding scale basis. Someone suggested an insurance agent and I agree with that. They can put their finger on all kinds of plans for you.
6 :
I would educate yourself with an online quote and then talk to a local broker who is more familiar with your local marketplace.
7 :
Insurance should be bought through a broker. Brokers are free and can show you plans from multiple companies. When you process the app through the broker then he/she is compensated by the company. Circumventing the broker and going direct is only done by uneducated consumers because it saves no money and doesn't get you an advocate on your side should claims or billing issues arise.
8 :
You can check this site to see what plans are available in your area: http://www.ehealthinsurance.com You don't have to provide any personal information, just your zip code, gender and date of birth.

it depends on where you are located? the insurance is valid for 40.000 euros, no matter how long you stay? and if is is a tourist visa? it is for 90 days,if student? then it depends on the time of study, the fact that you are healthy is irrelevant, you could have an accident and encounter high hospital bills.
2 :
You can easily check your minimal health care rates in internet, for example here - healthplans.bebto.com
3 :
By google to collect some related information or you may try using answer engines like yahoo answer or yedda.com to get some related ideas.nonetheless,If you prefer some direct resource, here http://www.HealthInsuranceIdeas.info/free-online-health-insurance.htm is a good one from my own experience.
4 :
Tourist visa applicants must show that they are in possession of adequate and valid individual or group travel insurance to cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout the territory of the Member States applying in full the provisions of the Schengen acquis and cover the entire period of the person's stay. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30000. In principle, the proof of this insurance shall be submitted when the visa is issued. AXA is a global player who offers travel health insurance on almost every place on earth. See their rates on the attached website. http://www.axa-schengen.com/english/axa-assistance-price.html ..
5 :
When traveling to a Schengen country, the traveler needs to have health insurance because health insurance is mandatory in Europe. Depending on your age and the amount of coverage selected, you can expect Schengen insurance premium to range from $1 to $10 per day. You do not need to get insurance for the whole year, you only need insurance for the duration of your trip (including the arival and departure days). See here for a site with a lot of information on Schengen visa health insurance http://www.euro-dollar-currency.com/schengen_visa_insurance.htm . Note the visa is called "Schengen" visa not "schengan" :)

How much would decent health insurance cost in the USA

How much would decent health insurance cost in the USA?
How much would decent health insurance cost in the USA for an elder person, say 65, who has no health history in the us due to being an immigrant? I am talking about the decent type of health insurance one gets when working for a fortune 500 company with low premiums and 20 dollar copays. ANy advice?

It depends on previous health problemsand what state you live in. There is no such thing as low premiums and $20 co-pays unless the employer is paying for the majority of the premiums.
2 :
No such thing as low premiums and low copays for a person 65 or over. For a single person 65 or over, the insurance, if you can get anything at all, will certainly be over $1000/month anywhere in the US. Don't be surprised if it costs $2000 or more per month for private health insurance for a person over 50. Coverage is also likely to be limited, and vision, dental, prescription coverage either unavailable or at a higher cost. Furthermore, "no health history in the US" is irrelevant since the person is going to have to have a comprehensive health exam at that person's expense - so plan on a couple thou (in cash) for all the lab and other tests plus the doctor bill.
3 :
I think you're not going to find someone willing to give private insurance to someone who's 65, for the first time. Here in the USA, an American citizen who was perfectly healthy, not overweight, nonsmoker, and no preexisting conditions, at the age of 64, would likely be paying $1,000 a month for a comprehensive plan, although that copay of $20 you're suggestiong JUST isn't realistic. When one works for a large corporation, everyone is AVERAGED. So, you take 5,000 people, and each one pays $500 a month for insurance. Each one gets maternity coverage - including the men. The youngest men could find coverage cheaper on a private policy, because the price for ALL of them is averaged together.
4 :
It depends on the state the person lives in. My best guess would be that someone who's not eligible for free medicare PART A, would have to pay somewhere around $700/mo.
5 :
It will likely cost between $500 and $1,000 a month unless you live in a very expensive low competition government controlled state like NJ.

Try this site where you can get quotes from different companies http://heinsurance.notlong.com

What is the best health insurance for me

What is the best health insurance for me?
I'm still under my parents med. insurance, but I know when I turn 19 they're health insurance providers will say that I can't legally be under my parents anymore.
(I know this because they did the same thing to my older brother and sister. But my sister is still under it because she's a full time student in college and my bro. is still under it cause he has a mental disability) I don't know what I'll do after that though. My parents said that even though I have a job of my own, if I find the best health insurance for me they'll pay for it until I move out. I don't have any true health problems only acne and acid reflux. Please give me an idea of a cheap but reliable health insurance plan that would best fit my needs. (Thanks)

First I would recommend going to college. You will be extended on your parent's plan until you're 22, and you'll greatly increase your chances of landing a better job with equally better benefits once you graduate. Until then, since it sounds like you're fairly healthy and have no kids, a PPO with any trusted insurance company should be fine. You can pick any doctor and pay around $20 for a copay. If you had children I would recommend an HMO because they have better benefits for the mothers and pay for almost all of the kid's first shots etc.
2 :
Ask your Mom & Dad to let you go by/call the insurance agent that has the plan that you're on. Tell the insurance company your story, and I'll bet they can help you out.
3 :
You will get the best rates through an employer. They insure more people so they get special rates. Otherwise you need to seek out insurance agents who deal with a broad spectrum of companies. Alot of what you will be able to afford will be based on many factors. . . 1. How much your deductible is. . the higher the deductible, the lower the monthly premium. 2. Pre exsisting conditions. 3.Some companies require health exams. 4.Habits such as smoking, drinking, doing drugs. 5.Have you ever been hospitalized for depression/suicidal tendencies etc Group policies help to alleviate these conditons in most cases.
4 :
First of all, where do you live? Believe it or not, your geographic location plays a big part of what you pay and what government programs may be able to help you pay for insurance such as Medicaid. There is a list of simple questions you should be asking yourself...one of the best references that I have found is the book "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz. She nor only has great tips, but websites that are fantastic listed in the book. I heard her on "Oprah and Friends" the other day and her advice was great and simple...I bout the book at Barnes and Noble for about $15, but you can get it on Amazon a lot cheaper....I am getting this book as a gift for a few of my relatives for the holidays!
5 :
Besides insurance, if you are on your own, look into a discount medical program such as the one below. It will save you money everytime you go to a doctor and works with insurance coverages well.

How does a 20 year old without health insurance get his pacemaker replaced

How does a 20 year old without health insurance get his pacemaker replaced?
I have no health insurance and I have a pace maker that NEEDS to be replaced this year or my pacemaker (followed by eventually, myself) will die. What do I do?

I have same problem as you man, no insurance wants to insure me because I have one history of suicide attempt. I might as well just die now if they want me to, they won't even pay for me to go see a psychologist... I told them if they insure me I would go see psychologist and get help. Health insurance is just as broken as colleges increasing tuition to take advantage of the fact that everybody is getting financial aid loans. They only insure those who don't need it but don't insure those who need it because all they ever care about is the money.

Is this mandatory health insurance a tax or is it a fine

Is this mandatory health insurance a tax or is it a fine?
Obama stated that he would not add any taxes to the middle class working man/woman. However he has stated that it will mandatory that everyone pays for health insurance or they will be fined. Now everyone knows you have no Choice but pay taxes. So if it mandatory that you buy health insurance.
Doesn't that make it a tax? neither one of the first two answers even tried to answer the question. Please stick to the question.

Nope. It's about taking care of yourself. If you don't have healthcare coverage and get sick or injured, my tax dollars will be wasted on your care. Screw that! You drive the speed limit or get fined. You pay your taxes or get fined. Personal responsibility, baby! I did answer your question. "Nope." Means that it's neither a tax nor a fine.
2 :
So, if you skip on health insurance and get sick, why should my tax dollars be spent to make you well again? You pay for yourself, one way or another. You're not paying the government, so it's not a tax. And if you buy insurance, it's not a fine. So it's NEITHER. It's no more "tax" nor "fine" than mandatory auto insurance is.
3 :
I think what you are asking is if it is theoretically a tax. And the answer is yes. Example: Excise tax is billed each year as a way to create a pool of funds for use in road repair. The nicer the car you have (ie. the more money you have) the higher your excise tax bill. Although you paid more money for road repair because of your brand new Audi, the person that drives a 1982 Toyota Corolla will be able to drive on the same roads as you. When you buy your health insurance plan, anyone with a high income will be paying more than someone with little or no income. We all drive on the same roads and we will all get the same health care. As for the fine aspect. If drive on the roads without paying your excise tax bill you can receive a ticket. If you get caught living your life without health insurance you will receive a ticket. This is basically a step towards government run and funded (by a health insurance TAX) health insurance as they have in other countries. Disclaimer: I drive a Mazda.

Nothing has been passed by Congress, so your question cannot be answered.

What are the options for people without health insurance for drug rehab

What are the options for people without health insurance for drug rehab?
My boyfriend does not have health insurance but I want him to start rehab. We live in Portland, OR. Preferably out patient he has a job. Please help.

That will be pretty close to impossible.
2 :
~~Call your county health department. Most counties offer help with mental health issues, or will refer you to a sliding scale facility. Hopefully yours will too.~~
3 :
The option is the same as for anything else that you need and cannot get an insurance company to give you: You pay for it.
4 :
YOU want him to start rehab? Honey, that's flat out not going to get him clean. It really isn't. It's NEVER going to work, until/unless HE wants to stop using. Since he has no health insurance, and YOU are the one who wants him in rehab, you might as well be the one paying for it. Might as well burn your money, though, because someone ELSE can't make him do something he doesn't want to do (stop using). I'd strongly suggest two things: 1. get yourself to some NarcAnon meetings. You can find local meetings and help here: http://nar-anon.org/Nar-Anon/Nar-Anon_Home.html 2. toss him back, and try for someone else. It's completely unfair to him, for you to want him to change. This is how he is. If you don't want a drug addict in your life, you'll have to pick someone else, who isn't a drug addict.
