Why should we allow health insurance companies to sell across state lines

Why should we allow health insurance companies to sell across state lines?
The biggest change from this is the individual State governments won't be able to regulate health insurance anymore. Why is this a good thing?

They already do.

It's not a good thing. State control protects citizens of a state. Republicans are always pushing their federalism ideals, except when it's not in their interests.

to open up competition which would lower premiums. there are a few states that only have 2 companies to choose from for insurance

The people who think this is a good thing, don't understand WHY insurance costs less in one state, than another. I think it's a bad thing, for several reasons: 1. because the REASON insurance costs more in some states, is due to state regulations. So all it's really going to do, is raise the rates for everyone OUTSIDE of that highly regulated state and 2. It creates yet ANOTHER Federal bureaucracy, with MORE government employees with benefits, and all that added layer of costs will be reflected in increased rates.
