I currently sell life insurance and am thinking about selling health insurance possibly with Humana or another company. Do agents get paid a percentage of the first year's premium? I am also thinking of selling Aflac. How do Aflac agents get paid?

health insurance should have lower commission in percentage as compared to life insurance but the commission is the same percentage throughout so long as the client pay for renewal. health insurance premiums usually increase with age bands which means that your commission should also increase accordingly.

Currently you would get a percentage of the first year and renewal, but nobody knows what that's going to be after the first of the year. Since the government can now tell insurance companies (though they can't tell any other company) how much money they can use towards their overall expenses, nobody is sure how much an agent will get paid. And, if it's not much you'll have tons of people out there with no professional assistance.

Commission, monthly, for each month it's paid. Same for Aflac.
