How can I get health insurance as a nanny in Canada

How can I get health insurance as a nanny in Canada?
I will be going to Canada in a couple of months to live in a house and work as a nanny of a family. I know that I can only get public health care after 3 months, so what is the best (and cheapest) way to get insurance?

On April 1, a new law in Canada (the ‘Juana Tejada Law’) will make sure that your host family has to pay your health insurance of the first 3 months. It should be around 150 CAD I think. You can read more about the new law on the website of the Canadian Caregivers Association here: http://www.live-in.ca/post.php?id=4.
2 :
New law that is being enforced on April 1 2010 - that all caregivers/nannies legally need health insurance when entering Canada. New Law: Health Insurance Employers of foreign live-in caregivers are now responsible for paying for their caregiver’s health insurance at no cost to the caregiver until he/she becomes eligible for provincial health coverage. Employers are not permitted to recoup these costs from live-in caregivers. Contact any travel insurance company in Canada

Try visiting the nearest clinics or any doctors to ask regarding your shots. Price may also vary. Regarding health insurance, it is not difficult to find health insurance. There are a lot of companies out there which provide free quotes so you may choose the best one which suits you. http://www.localinsuresearch.com/myhealthins.php

How to get a health insurance and credit card for a senior immigrant with a green card

How to get a health insurance and credit card for a senior immigrant with a green card?
Hi, I'm looking for an inexpensive health insurance for my mother who is a permanent resident and our dependent. She has a SSN, but never worked in US. Also, I'd like to get her a credit card, but she has no credit history.
Has anybody dealt with similar problems?

After 5 years she can get Medicare. However, because she never paid into the system her premium will be very high. Medicare Part A. will be about $450 (2009) PER MONTH and Part B. about $95 (2009) PER MONTH. People who have paid into the system for 40 quarters (10 years) get Part A. for free and Part B. for about $95 a month. Medicare Part A typically pays for your inpatient hospital expenses and Medicare Part B typically covers your outpatient health care expenses including doctor fees. She can't get a credit card without a credit history. To get a credit history you can loan her $5,000. She can deposit the $5,000 in a CD and then borrow $5,000 from the bank and use the CD as collateral. The bank will report her payment history each month to the credit bureaus. After a year she'll have a credit history that's good enough to start looking for a credit card with a low limit.

Health insurance, the only plan I have seen is Inbound Immigrant, it will cover her till she qualifies to buy into Medicare. For a credit card, you have two options: 1) open a bank account and get a debit card 2) get her a subsidary credit card on your account Both of these things will help her build a credit history and she will be able to get a regular credit card in a couple of years.
3 :
When it comes to health insurance, she can get health insurance from Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Health Net or any other insurance carrier if she is under 65 years old. Just visit a local agent or go online to get a quote with her date of birth and zip code. Once she is 65 or older, she will have to enroll in Medicare and since she never worked in USA, she will have to pay a monthly fee for it (around $600, not cheap). When it comes to credit card, there is a card called Secured Visa Card from Bank of America. It is a card designed for people with no credit. The card has an annual fee of $29, low limits, and you must make a $100 deposit as collateral. I used this card myself when I came to US. Good luck!

Why should we allow health insurance companies to sell across state lines

Why should we allow health insurance companies to sell across state lines?
The biggest change from this is the individual State governments won't be able to regulate health insurance anymore. Why is this a good thing?

They already do.
2 :
It's not a good thing. State control protects citizens of a state. Republicans are always pushing their federalism ideals, except when it's not in their interests.
3 :
to open up competition which would lower premiums. there are a few states that only have 2 companies to choose from for insurance
4 :
The people who think this is a good thing, don't understand WHY insurance costs less in one state, than another. I think it's a bad thing, for several reasons: 1. because the REASON insurance costs more in some states, is due to state regulations. So all it's really going to do, is raise the rates for everyone OUTSIDE of that highly regulated state and 2. It creates yet ANOTHER Federal bureaucracy, with MORE government employees with benefits, and all that added layer of costs will be reflected in increased rates.

What company is recommended for inexpensive, solo health insurance

What company is recommended for inexpensive, solo health insurance?
I am currently employed, but do not get health insurance through my employer. I am looking for a decent but fairly inexpensive health insurance company that will take me on. I'm single, 24 years-old and healthy. Any suggestions?

goto the veterinary, they sell inexpensive insurance for dawgs
2 :
A decent, fairly inexpensive health insurance policy for you, with no maternity, dental, or vision, is going to cost around $250 a month. That IS inexpensive, for a low/no deductible plan. Any "short cut" or "too good to be true" plan is probably just that - a "plan", and not INSURANCE. Someone unregulated, selling you a list. Or a scam.
3 :
Be honest,It is gonna take some time to find the answer for your question.Try to have a look the resource here http://www.HealthInsuranceFreeTips.info/free-health-insurance.htm for reference.
4 :
Ultimately, you are the one who determines the affordability of your health insurance plan by deciding how much you will participate in sharing the cost of your health care with your insurance company. If you choose a plan that covers everything i.e. doctors office visits, prescription drugs, preventative health benefits, maternity coverage as well as low deductibles, low copays and optional vision and dental benefits your monthly premiums will be significant. On the other hand because you are young and healthy and probably use the health care system sparingly you could consider a plan that covers only the major health catastrophe which will result in a relatively low monthly premium. You then can use the monthly premium savings to pay for the occasional doctor visit and still come out ahead. You need a trusted adviser to help you through the process of purchasing health insurance so that you understand what you are purchasing. That adviser can answer questions as to what is and is not covered by the policy, explain deductibles and copays and show you the hospitals and doctors that participate in the network. Check with the agent that writes your home or auto insurance he/she can provide you a health insurance proposal that takes into account your budget and health situation. Some may suggest going on line to get a quote but you probably already know that there is much more to health insurance than price. Some might even "pitch" a discount plan that is not insurance at all. Use the Internet to educate yourself but use an agent to purchase the coverage.

How do professional boxers or any boxers purchase health insurance I know you have to inform the insurance

How do professional boxers or any boxers purchase health insurance I know you have to inform the insurance ?
agency that you are in a certain sport, and what is the monthly payment on the insurance plans?
Do they have any difficulty getting health insurance due to the fact of the sport? What insurance plans are they on?

With enough cash even boxers can buy medical insurance, unfortunately a lot of boxers, like about 40 million other Americans can't afford health insurance of any kind. It is a safe bet the premiums that boxers do pay for health care are a lot stiffer than less hazardous forms of employment. Plans, vary, and each is a personal choice of the individual purchasing them.
