What to do if your application for health insurance coverage is denied due to lower back issues

What to do if your application for health insurance coverage is denied due to lower back issues?
I was denied new health insurance coverage in May 2007 because of lower back pain in January 2007 for which I received physical therapy. I have had continuous health insurance coverage for more than 2 years with no history of back ailments. If I reapply again now (for coverage starting in September), am I likely to be denied again? Is there anything I can do about it? My group coverage through work is very costly, and I'd prefer to have a more affordable plan.

insurance companies rule the world. there's nothing you can do. i'm sorry!
2 :
Go to Cuba. Health care companies are there to make a profit. I'm also frustrated myself. If you do an internet search for independent coverage in your area that might work. Something like Kaiser Permanante offers it. I have health ins. offered through a local hospital and my employer doesn't pay, I pick up all the premiums and it's really quite affordable and a good plan. Good luck to you!
3 :
Depending upon your state, many companies will decline if you've had any back problems in the past 5 years. Visit a local independent agent. This person can contact the underwriters for you to see if any will accept you. Some companies may accept you but put a rider on any back problems. This means they won't cover anything that has to do with or is a result of the back problems. Some companies may cover after 1 year. The agent can find out for you.

What health insurance options do I have while I'm going to college

What health insurance options do I have while I'm going to college?
I will only be working part-time while going to college so I will not have health benefits. What options are available? I'm an older adult, so I will not be on my parents insurance.
Also does it matter if I am attending a community or technical college? I plan to start at a community college, then transfer to a university.

Some colleges/universities offer information on health insurance plans for their students. I know my daughter was eligible for free health services through our State health department because she was considered an adult at 18 and had a minimal income.
2 :
Most schools allow students to pay extra to get health insurance through them. Some have programs that require you to opt-out by a certain date or get stuck paying for it anyway. You should do your own cost comparison, though, as the health insurance offered by schools is a flat rate, making it more expensive than a healthy person could get on his own.

most college and universities offer health services to students. It depends on the school you will be going to and what they offer. you should contact them or look on their website to see what they offer.
2 :
Try to get coverage through your school first. If you cannot get it through your school, and you don't have any serious pre-existing conditions that might disqualify you from individual coverage, apply for individual coverage through a broker (insurance agent) or directly from the insurance company of your choice. Also, some part-time jobs do offer limited health insurance benefits. You could try to get a second part-time job for a few hours a week just for the insurance. You should do anything you can to avoid the dreaded "gap of coverage."
3 :
health-quotes.talk4fun.net - my family have this health insurance. It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.
4 :
If you are under age 24 you can stay on parents insurance. New Obama law. Hope it takes effect now. The college always has a health center. Otherwise, you go to a local community or public health clinic for help. Your being a student has nothing to do with insurance except if you purchase a policy, you may get a discount for that. If you are under 21 insurance is cheaper.

What is the best health insurance plan for a student studying abroad

What is the best health insurance plan for a student studying abroad?
My daughter is studying abroad in Rome this fall. She needs medical coverage for 3 months. Our health insurance policy does not cover her while in Italy. Any suggestions for a good student plan?

You bet. What you want is called Travel Medical Insurance. It does not matter what reason you have for traveling - study abroad is just as good as vacationing. You can learn about it by going to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm The column headed "Worldwide Health" and the one headed "Patriot Travel Medical" are where to look. You can buy online if you see something you like. Best wishes.

A friend and his wife just returned from three weeks in Italy. Your daughter is going to have a wonderful time. I don’t have a specific recommendation, but I do have a few thoughts: 1.Does her school in the States have a student health plan she can get and will it extend some sort of coverage in Italy? Does the program or school in Italy have insurance she can buy? These plans are probably the least expensive route since they will be group health plans, which are usually less expensive than individual health insurance. 2.Ask people at her school – especially people who have gone through the same study abroad program and find out what they did for insurance. It’ll be interesting anyway because it will give your daughter a better sense of what to expect apart from such practical matters. 3.Short-term insurance: It doesn’t offer the same range of benefits as longer-term insurance and typically lasts from a month to six months, although you can find short-term policies that last for a year. Short-term plans usually help pay for: hospital stay, ambulatory services, lab exams, x-rays, prescriptions. Short-term typically doesn’t cover dental care, preventive exams, pregnancy, and can be difficult to find when abroad, but plans do exist. 4.Travel Insurance: Probably won’t offer the range of benefits you’d like, but it is an option. 5.Local health insurance agents: Try MostChoice.com. It offers online quotes but more importantly puts you in touch with qualified health insurance agents. You fill out a short form, review online quotes, and within 48 hours local agents will contact you. Tell them what you want and what you want to pay and let them do the rest. There’s no cost or obligation to buy anything, and it’s an easy way to find out exactly what options are available to you and your daughter. You can visit MostChoice here: http://www.mostchoice.com/health-insurance.cfm Very envious of your daughter and her Italian excursion, Barnes@MostChoice

A sound business decision would be to consider an HSA, (Health Savings Account,) qualified health plan. Your local Blue Cross Blue Shield is a great starting point when shopping in my opinion. Regarding immunizations for travel, most insurance carriers will not cover this expense. Immunizations other than for travel are usually covered. The price can vary widely. Call your local county/state run hospital.
3 :
Check with your local health department for the cost of the shots. CHEAP insurance has a high deductible.

go to http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/kmile they have wonderful plans that are very affordable

What is the best health insurance for a 25 yr old married couple

What is the best health insurance for a 25 yr old married couple?
My husband and I are looking for health insurance. I grew up on Blue Cross Blue Shield but I don't know if that is an A rated company or not.
Also, what benefits should I look for, what kind of deductible and what kind of q's should I ask?

bluecross blue sheild is the bomb
2 :
the one that is afordable and your doctors accept
3 :
blue cross and blue shield, most doctors and hospitals take them
4 :
Blue Cross/Blue Shield we have a 200.00 deductible per year per person.with a 20 co pay, and we have medco for prescriptions
5 :
Usually it is up to the company that you work for, that offers the insurance..and who they go through or offer (sometimes large companies/government agencies offer serveral to choose from). It also depends on where you are from. Blue Cross Blue Shield is OK...I like CDPHP over BCBS--but they are peculiar to my area. Your employer should supply you with information (especially if you have the choice of more than one to choose from) that lists deductables, how much per month will be paid out and what they will cover.
6 :
go to www.zanderins.com I'm 29 and my wife and I just went through this process. This site has the best quotes available from multiple companies and it is a fairly simple process.
7 :
As a 25 year old married couple you need to ask yourself a few questions: 1) Are you planning on having children? If so, you want to make sure that the plan you select has maternity coverage. Most straight PPO Indivdiual/Family plans do not offer Maternity Coverage that is reasonable. Depending on your area Blue Cross may offer an HMO based plan that does cover maternity. Be aware - most individual plans that cover maternity have a wait period before the pregnancy will be a covered benefit. 2) You may also want to look at an Health Savings Account (HSA) Qualified plan. Being so young, they afford you a great way to save (tax free) for future medical expenses. Also, because you are young, chances are you will not incur any huge medical expenses - so dont pay the huge premiums for a benefit rich co-pay plan - you will be able to save the premium difference between an HSA Plan and a traditional plan into you your HSA. 3) If you are self-employed - make sure you look for a plan that covers on the job accidents - some plans exclude this coverage, so be sure to ask for a Sample Policy Cert before signing up for any policy 4) Use a local independent agent - they have the most knowledge on the plans that are available in your area. Hope this helps and good luck!
8 :
Yes, BCBS is A rated. You can always check with AM Best. If you're getting it through your employer, you probably don't have many options. If you're buying a private policy, it's likely to cost you about $250 a month, each. If you're relatively healthy, it's probably worth it to take a higher deductible in exchange for a significantly lower monthly premium - RUN THE NUMBERS before you buy. Make SURE you buy from a licensed agent IN YOUR AREA. A great price on health insurance means NOTHING if you have to drive 200 miles to see an in network doctor. And lastly, I'm sure you'll get lots of offers from this posting, for "health discount plans". They are a scam. Or rather, the vast majority of people you try to use them, hate them. Very few providers take them, despite what the salesperson says. Plus, 60% off a $100,000 hospital bill STILL leaves you with $40,000 out of pocket. OUCH!!

What health insurance do you recommend in Panama

What health insurance do you recommend in Panama?
I am a healthy male age 40 who travels on a regular basis who lives in Panama City, Panama. I am looking for health insurance - what do you recommend?
Panama - 1 Answers

At age 40 you can still apply for all of the insurance providers in Panama. Most have age limits starting at 60 - although some go up to 74 and then there is one provider that has no limit. Health insurance companies include Aseguradora Mundial, Aseguradora Ancon, ASSA, IHI - Bupa - HSBC Seguros, Blue Cross - Blue Shield, World Wide Medical, Santa Fe Plan, and Alico. As an insurance broker I can get you quotes from all insurance companies. Since you have no pre-existing conditions you are eligable for all. The adminision requirements are different for foreigners than for Panamanians. Feel free to write to me - forlacol@gmail.com Look forward to assisting you. Ursula Kiener Ford

What pet health insurance policies are recommended

What pet health insurance policies are recommended?
My dog has been on the Banfield Wellness Plan for a few years, but I am discovering that it is not one of the best health plans. Her current plan only allows her to get treated at the Banfield Hospital that the plan was signed up under, and they don't have extended hours.
They are always closed on Sundays and Mondays, and it's difficult to find a vet that doesn't charge too much for anything. I'm trying to look for a different pet health insurance plan where I can take her anywhere any time during the week or weekend.

I think VPI has insurance that you can use any where. We are actually looking for pet insurance right now, if anyone knows what pet insurances would cover treatment for hip dysplasia or other hip problems please let me know! BTW - my dog doesn't have hip problems now, but he's a newfie/saint mix and both breeds have problems in that area. Thanx!
2 :
Banfield Wellness Plan is not really insurance, but more of a plan through the corporation. If you want actual pet insurance, I would suggest VPI. My clinic does a lot with VPI and it is relatively simple and affordable. Check out the different plans they offer and make sure it suits you, then after you've signed up, this is how it works. Pet insurance is not like human insurance. You can go to any veterinarian, but the plan you choose selects what is covered and what is not. You can do whatever treatment you choose at your veterinarian's, just remember you have to pay for it all. VPI insurance forms are filled out by your veterinarian (bring them in with you or ask the front desk for one - they most likely have one) and sent in by you. VPI then reimburses you. You can check it out at : http://www.petinsurance.com/ The pet insurance world has not expanded to the point that you have a card and an office within your clinic will handle the paper work but I have a feeling that it will grow to this point soon enough. So check out the website, ask your veterinarian, and hopefully some of this info is helpful. I've seen insurance cover everything from heartworm preventatives and update to vaccine reaction and emergency surgeries. It is definately worth it. Just remember, insurance is different from a wellness plan. Wellness plans are a bulk amount of money in a partnership with a clinic or corporation to cover what is done with that clinic. Insurance is monthly payments for coverage just like for human health insurance. Just wanted to add this side note: if you go to the VPI website, you can get a quote on your pet(s), they have full details of thier plans, you can enroll online and they give a discount when you enroll more than 1 pet!
