What does university health insurance cover

What does university health insurance cover?
I have the insurance through school, which is first health insurance. The physicians I want to visit are covered in the insurance network, but I'm not sure what the fees will be.

Does anyone have similar insurance, if so, please let me know what to expect. Thanks!

My insurance through school covers 100% of anything done at the student health center. I see a doctor there regularly, for diabetic reasons, and get a lot of lab work done - all covered. They can do just about anything there at the health center, blood work, x-rays, annual exams, gyno stuff... and if you need to see a specialist, they will refer you - which is like being in network. Outside of the health center, I have a $200 deductible per semester. In the last two years, I've used my insurance extensively - and haven't paid anything out of pocket other than that deductible. Prescriptions are not covered... I was not happy in the beginning that I was required to keep the school insurance, I thought it was a waste of money - but now, I would certainly recommend it to everyone. Use it! Good luck

What is a good health insurance for a college student

What is a good health insurance for a college student?

you should look for quotes from multiple insurance companies.. Recommended resources - http://healthinsuranceace.com
2 :
Do they offer health insurance through your school? I would recommend that program.
3 :
sometimes colleges have short-term insurance for students while they are attending college...ask them.
4 :
Lots of universities offer a health plan in their paperwork, especially if they have an on-campus health center. That's often the best bet. If you are in good health, it's pretty easy to get your own insurance over the Internet (Blue Cross, Kaiser, etc.) at reasonable prices, like from $50 (?) per month up.

What is considered a qualifying event for health insurance coverage

What is considered a qualifying event for health insurance coverage?
If I waived health insurance through work because I already have a policy and then during the year I involuntarily lose my health insurance is that considered a qualifying event to obtain coverage right away through my job's insurance company and not having to wait for open enrollment?

~~State laws vary, in CA it is possible to be added back on, but it is up to your employer on whether they make you wait or not. In my experience they usually allow you to sign up without waiting.~~
2 :
If you waive insurance because you have health insurance from your spouse's insurance, and spouse is laid off and loses the insurance plan, then yes, that is a qualifying event. If you bought private coverage, and decide to stop paying for it, that is NOT a qualifying event. So it all depends on how you have a policy already, and how during the year you lose that coverage.

Can health insurance denies my wife's application for health insurance because she is pregnant

Can health insurance denies my wife's application for health insurance because she is pregnant?
I had to move to Utah. She has been covered with health insurance for more than 2 years without gap. I tried to purchase an individual health insurance for her and it was denied because she is pregnant.

Yes, they can deny her because it is a "pre-existing" condition. If you have her under a prior group policy, it would be almost necessary to get her under a new group policy or COBRA, as almost all new individual policy's will exclude coverage for her current pregnancy.
2 :
Surprisingly when you try to purchase a policy on your own a health insurance company can deny you for any reason. You can not be denied if it's a group policy (ie through your employer) Because your wife is pregnant she can get free or cheap insurance through the state that will cover both her and the baby while she is pregnant and at least the baby once she delivers.
3 :
Yes, they can deny for ANY reason, but pregnancy is a common reason. It's VERY hard to find individual health insurance when you're pregnant. Can you add her to your policy through your work? That's the way to do it.

How to get health insurance for my daughter

How to get health insurance for my daughter?
I'm 22. I have health insurance coverage under my parents (it's just better insurance than I could get on my own, that's why I've kept it). However, I am pregnant and need to find insurance for my daughter for when she's born. Under my current insurance, I am covered but she is not.
My question is, what should I do? I got an application for Medicaid but will it cover her before she is born, even though I don't need insurance? Any advice?

I was in the same situation. Make sure your parents insurance will cover the birth and hospital stay. Mine covered everything until the baby was born then she had to have her own insurance. You can get approved for medicaid if your have low income. Just make sure to give that info to the hospital when you deliver so there wont be any mix ups with the insurance companies. You should be able to keep using your own insurance until she is born. The medicaid will become active the day she is born.
2 :
Depending on your income, you can probably get medicaid for yourself even though you already have insurance. That will help you cover deductibles and co-pays (which can get expensive). Also, this way your daughter will be automatically covered at birth and she should be covered for a year after that before you have to reapply. But it really depends on your income level. Check with your local public health nurse as they can usually get you the application and income info.

Check out this site, if you want to find the best or the cheapest health insurance just in one minute, http://cheap-health-insurance-usa.info/ Here you can get free quotes from different health insurance companies in your area, its the best way to find an afforable health insurance with a reliable company. How do you find out if your health insurance covers mental health

How do you find out if your health insurance covers mental health?
I need to find out if my health insurance plans cover psychologist visits and mental illnesses. Thanks!

i call the number on the back of the card
2 :
If the insurance is through your employer, you should have been given a brochure with information on all the conditions the insurance covers - and the percentage of costs it covers. If you don't have that information, call the number on your insurance card and ask to speak to someone who can verify exactly what conditions are included and from whom you can request that they send you a copy of the brochure. You always want something that is written down to have as back-up in case someone gives you conflicting information or you are refused coverage in error.
3 :
ahum. Ok Sir, what's your policy number (on the card) and your name? I'll look it up for you!
4 :
healthplans.bebto.com - here is my health insurance. As I remember they can provide such a service.

Is there an employer sponsored health insurance plan for individuals

Is there an employer sponsored health insurance plan for individuals?
I am currently under a foreign policy from my homecountry and I need to sign up for health insurance in the US. My employer is willing to sponser me. However, I am not eligible for a group plan because my only other coworker is insured thru his wife. Is there an individual policy out there that allows me to have the premium taken out of my paycheck pre-tax? Also, any hints on how get a good deal on health insurance without getting hundreds of calls from agents? I already turned my phone off.

There are ways around it. Depending on what state you're in, and the nature of your business, you may be able to get group coverage for just you. The easiest way is to pick an independent agent have a sit down and work with him/her. Without the hundred phone calls? You're looking at spending time online, hunting through the carrier websites for contact information and calling up the companies to get a quote. That's really the only way to do it. The pre-tax deduction is most commonly referred to as a Section 125 POP, many carriers offer them alongside an insurance plan. You must set up the Section 125 in order to take advantage of the tax savings, however, otherwise you're SOL. If you're in California, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to walk you through how to make this happen.
2 :
No, there isn't. The only employer sponsored health insurance would be through YOUR employer. In order to have premium taken out of your paycheck, your employer has to sponsor a plan. Your employer has no group health insurance. You're on your own. Talk to a local, independent agent, and ask for quotes. If you're 30 and healthy, it WILL be $300 a month. IF someone will write you.
