How does it work when both spouses have health insurance

How does it work when both spouses have health insurance?
Is it worth it to have two people w/health insurance? What are the benefits? How does it work when you go to the doctor, who covers it? Thx for any info.

You might have too much coverage? It depends on your healthcare needs. You would be primary on the insurance company you have through work or private. The other insurance would be secondary. It could lower your prescription costs. It could lower your doctor visits. It could help you pay any extraordinary medical bills. I don't have health insurance through my work. I'm covered on my husband's health plan. But we both carry dental insurance and that has been well worth it, especially when I needed a root canal. My husband needs his wisdom teeth taken out. I hope this helps. edit: Whenever you go to the doctor or to pick up a prescription, give both insurance cards. You should save some money. You should weigh the savings against the added premiums (what you pay out every pay period).
2 :
The primary insurance will be from the spouse whose birthday is first in the year. January would be primary and March secondary. As far as benefits you will have to look at your benefits book, probably available from your employer.
3 :
You should chose whichever spouses insurance is the best and not take the insurance offered by the other spouses employer.
4 :
Usually (in most states) the law reads the person who is BORN first in the year (as in MONTH/DAY) covers the family. you can keep the policies seperate if you want but when you have kids, it will follow whoever was born first So if one of you is Jan and one is Feb (Jan covers the kids at least...should you decide to keep yours). Now - if you dont like the Jan policy - cancle it - that way the person with Feb can cover the whole family. Some policies allow you to have a primary and a secondairy policy.. but SOME will not - so before you assume - be sure they will allow it this way. If they do - you can run the charges through one, then the co-pays, out of pockets etc throught the second. Hope this helps!!!! If you have any more questions - feel free to contact me!
5 :
The billing department will submit the claim to the primary insurance first then to the secondary insurance provider. You provide current insurance cards when you check in for your appointments. Usually when you start a job or new insurance plan, your business dept. or human resources dept. should discuss all the insurance benefits with you to make sure your getting the right kind etc. If you haven't already consulted with them, I suggest you do. They can answer any questions you have. Does your employer have an employee handbook? Most insurance information is covered in them also.

HMOs are cheap but you can't pick your doctor(s). Or you could try a medical savings account, they are tax deferred so you can pay for something if (or when) it comes up.
2 :
please contact insurance company.

I recommend you this site where you can compare quotes so you can find the best option for you http://Cheap-Health-Insurance-USA.info

How long after leaving a job does your health insurance void

How long after leaving a job does your health insurance void?
I've been off work for ten days and need to have an ultrasound in two weeks for health reasons. If I were to quit my job, how long after I leave it will my insurance be cancelled?

1 :
It may cancel as of your last day of work or it might continue to the end of the month. Just depends and you'd have to ask at your work. It doesn't sound like quitting your job right now would be your best bet.
2 :
I suggest you have the ultrasound 1st before quitting any job, since what if they tell you that you need addtl treatment?
3 :
I think it would not be covered by your Health Insurance since you left the company.

Can my health insurance ask for reimbursement from car insurance

Can my health insurance ask for reimbursement from car insurance?
Had a car accident and was in the hospital for close to a week. Health insurance covered everything except copays and deductible. The car insurance is waiting to see if my health insurance is going to ask for reimbursement before they pay out anything.
Seeing that I pay my health insurance premiums for situations like this, can they ask for reimbusement?

1 :
The car insurance company of the person who caused the accident is responsible for all medical bills as well. I am currently settling a case myself. I was injured in an accident caused by someone else and his insurance is going to pay my health insurance back for the medical expenses.
2 :
They can, and they will, and they're entitled to it. Otherwise, if BOTH policies are paying out, that's "double dipping", and your health carrier can ask YOU for reimbursement. Even if the other guy was at fault, the health carrier will likely put a lien against any judgement you get against them - so the attorney gets paid first, the health carrier gets paid second, and you get whatever is left over.
3 :
They can, and it is called co-opting, and happens quite often.
4 :
Yes. The auto insurance is responsible until the PIP (personal injury protection) expires. This way, you dont have to pay any copays, deductibles either. Once the pip expires, you health insurance will cover again. In most cases, however, you will be expected to be the middle-man...going back and forth between the health ins and car ins to update them.
5 :
Yes, your health insurance company can request reimbursement from the car insurance company. Its called subrogation, and the health insurer is generally entitled to be reimbursed for their expenses before you see a dime. That's just the way it works - the health insurance company pays for illnesses and for accidental injuries *when no other party has any liability.* But if another party (car insurance, workers compensation, a homeowners policy, etc.) has liability for an injury, then the health insurance company is entitled to get their money back. If you wish to expedite the process, you need to make your health insurance company aware of the auto insurance information. The faster they resolve the issue between them, the faster you'll get whatever is left over.
6 :
Yes, because anything related to an auto accident should be paid by the car insurance - most health insurances won't even pay a claim related to an MVA (motor vehicle accident). Health insurers can ask for rembursement even after a year.

What is the cost of baby health insurance

What is the cost of baby health insurance?
I am doing a project for health class, called baby's first year. I have every thing that i would cost to have a baby except Doctor, Hospital cost and health Insurance. If you know how much it is, I would love it because I have googled it and you need all this detailed information.

Depends on the policy. With my previous employer the health insurance premium was $216 a month for my son, with my current employer, it is much cheaper and I only pay $20 a month for one child. The total cost will also depend on what benefits are available for the child under the plan. Babies go the the doctor a lot during the first year for regular check-ups. Usually seven times (at two weeks, one month, two months, four months, six months, nine months and 12 months) more if they are sick. With my old plan, I had to pay 20% for all visits which was about $60-$80 each time, but with my new plan it is a flat $20 co-pay for each visit.

You could try this Insurance Company: http://www.nyig.com/products/inthealth/int_health.htm They specialize in covering people going overseas. I use this Company myself for customers going on long term and short term trips abroad. You can get a quote yourself online and also take a look at what they offer. It's a great site.
2 :
if you will be working on a US government contract you should look at defense base act insurance, for general insurance cigna has ex patriot insurance, but be aware that healthcare is cheap overseas and with Cigna you will have to wait to be reimbursed several months and they will try their best to not pay anything. chance are much greater that you will pay more in premiums then you will receive in benefits

How is an online health insurance plan different from a normal plan

How is an online health insurance plan different from a normal plan?
I am looking for a health insurance plan, and I came across this term while surfing the net… please let me know if there is any difference in the price or the way you use an online plan and a regular plan. Is there any difference in the benefits in the plans or any other difference? Since I am working I don’t have time to meet agents and that’s why I wanted to know the difference between them... please let me know asap.

There is no difference. You can buy the same plan online that you buy offline though not all companies have the ability for people to apply online but most do.
2 :
There is no difference in price when shopping online for health insurance...Each initial rate by each of the health insurance companies in your state is regulated. What that means if you go to a number of websites that offer health insurance quotes, you will see that the premiums are all the same. But, that does not mean that is the final rate. If you are applying for a individual or family insurance plan (non group insurance), your application will be medically underwritten. If you are healthy or if you have minor medical issues your more than likely to get you rate you applied. However, if you have medical history that includes: high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes, or any other major ailment...Your policy could include riders and/or exclusions on those medical conditions, or even worse you could be declined. Worst case senario, if declined, be sure to see if your state has a high risk pool. To find out if your state has a risk pool, click on the source tab below. How can I get health insurance for my daughter

How can I get health insurance for my daughter?
I'm disabled, and divorced-the divorce decree says that I have to provide health insurance, my daughter doesn't live with me, and I'm on medicare.

it all depends on your states medicaid and social security guidelines,,, go to your local health dept.. and to your local social security office and apply for SSI (supl, secur, income) or another form of assistance,, and apply for medicaid coverage for your child,, they will guide you of your options,,
2 :
I agree w John C- check out social services - talk to your social worker-more than likely your daughter should be collecting social security since you are disabled-and you should not be paying child support out of your pocket- at least in Kern County Ca- they consider the ss pmt as from the dad. D
3 :
Life sure gets messy some times. You have to go to your local office of the welfare office and start talking. It is not easy because most that work there don't know what they are doing.
4 :
You might try getting a quote online. I shopped around & they were able to offer me the lowest price by far. Go to: http://www.insureme.com/landing.aspx?Refby=613176&Type=health
