Health insurance

Health Insurance?
Hi, I am working for X-employer and my wife works for Y-Employer. What is the pros/cons of Health Insurance/Benifit? Is it good idea to go with respective employer? Or If I add my wife health benifit in my Employer and she can get more money in her pay check? Could any one explain it?

If you add your wife to your plan you'll have to pay extra for that, and vice versa. What you want to do is compare the costs and benefits of the two plans. What are the deductibles and out of pocket expenses? How much will you pay in premiums? Figure out how much it will cost all ways - to both go on yours, both go on hers or stay separate. Then, taking into consideration the different plan options, go the way that uses your money best. Good luck!
2 :
That depends on lots of things. Some employers pay all of their employees insurance costs, and nothing for the dependents. If this is the case for both of you, then you should each go on your own employer's group plan. Most employers do not "pay you" to not be on their plan. And, usually it is best for each of you to go on your own employer's group plan. You each need to find out what your costs and benefits are for just yourself, and to add your spouse. Decide which is best for you based on that. If you have a good HR department at either place, they should be able to look at your info and help you decide.

The best on-line tool I have found is Ehealthinsurance.com. However, if you call them, they load you up with everything and tend to oversell. I suggest buying from a local agent who specializes in health. Actually, these days buying from an on-line company can be mistake, since you need someone local and referral based to coach you through the process of picking a plan and underwriting. Don't even think about filling out a form on-line for "information" unless you want 5 agents calling to bug you within the next 5 minutes and for years after (I know). Try going to www.nahu.org to find a local specialist who is involved professionally in their business. They are a non-profit association for health agents. Measure their quality by how well they listen to what you want, need and will qualify for. A good agent can then get it down to 1 or 2 recommendations for your area.
2 :
Locate the local Blue Cross Blue Shield in your state online. Their website will have pricing, and the ability to apply online. Most likely it will be less expensive to have both of you on the policy as opposed to insuring just the baby.
3 :
You have to do some research, and do comparison shopping before choosing a health insurance company. Here's what I'd do: 1) Visit this site: http://www.kirtokreviews.com/health-insurance-quotes/ (Free site) and try to get as many health insurance quotes as possible first. 2) Make an excel list (advantages, disadvantages, coverages, etc.). And start calling the companies. 3) Never hesitate to bargain on the phone. They will sure be happy to get your business, always ask for current specials, discounts, etc. And finally choose the best one fits to your needs and budget. Good Luck with finding the right health insurance.
4 :
Contact an insurance broker. A broker works with several companies, and can find the best policy and terms for you. To find a broker, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote.

health insurance?
im a 19 year old college student and I want to know where I can apply for free health insurance. I have no parents and I live on my own. I tried to apply for medicaid but I don't qualify because you have to be pregnant or have a child. does anyone know of anything I can do. I want health insurance manily because I need new glasses (if that matters)

Move to France or England where they have free medical care. no, for real.
2 :
Well you better not vote for McCain because Republicans don't believe in the government assisting and helping others with things like this. George Bush may be the reason why you are asking this question in the first place. I would recommending trying to find a good part time job that will cover you no health insurance. You can work for UPS doing things other than lifting boxes, like address corrections, with 20 hours or less a week, and get full benifits.
3 :
Oh, so sorry there is no free health insurance. You said it, you don't qualify for Medicaid, that's the FREE one you are looking for so, obviously you work part time or someone helps you because you said you live on your own, just go get an eye exam and buy the glasses. Health insurance doesn't cover vision anyway, just diseases and conditions of the eye, like for cataract surgery. Good luck.
4 :
Just pray to the magic government to solve all your problems. But don't complain, when you realize that you are owned by the goverment. Check the cost with major carriers, Blue Cross, Kaiser, United Health Care. It may not be as much as you think. You are young, if you are healthy, you may be surprised. Oh and buy the way, Blame Hillary! She took a shot in 93, but over reached and failed, but Mit did it in Mass. It takes a Republican or better yet a republican village to fix a problem.
5 :
Free is not likely. Some states have chips (children's health insurance program,) but 19 is usually considered an adult. It won't be free, but most colleges offer health insurance for full time students. It usually costs under $750.00 per year. I know that is a lot of money, but it will cover you for more than just an eye exam. Talk to your school adviser and see if you can get coverage through the school, but you will have to pay. Also, ask your school adviser for help and referral to a social worker to see what benefits you qualify for--at 19 and all alone you need all the free help you can get to help you be independent and protected. Your college should have some resources for you to tap into.Good luck to you.
6 :
It's probably going to be cheaper to just pay for the glasses out of pocket. Investigate it first and see how much this will cost. Most vision plans don't offer great benefits anyway. If you're a full time student you may be eligible for health coverage at the school. Otherwise, get a job that offers low cost insurance. Nothing in life is free....and if you're insurance was free, it wouldn't be any good!
7 :
Is there any student insurance available through your school?
8 :
Medicaid is the only free insurance in the states you are likely to ever find, but if you're looking for glasses, health insurance isn't what you should be going for: you want Vision Insurance. Depending on what state you're in vision coverage may or may not be available to you. Talk to an independent agent near you, and they can help you find the solution you seek. Alternatively, go to an optometrist, explain your situation and find out if they will be willing to work with you. It may well be less expensive than paying for your own vision insurance.
9 :
There is no free health insurance, except welfare health insurance - Medicaid. Health insurance doesn't cover vision, anyway. Just get a job, or a second job, and in four weeks you'll have enough for an exam and cheap glasses.
10 :
There is no such thing as free health insurance. Health insurance provided by an employer is not free; it is paid for by the employer and, ultimately, by the customers who keep the employer in business. Government health care is not free; it is paid for by the tax payers. Why should health insurance be free, anyway? Do you think groceries should be free? iPods? Gasoline? At your age, assuming you are in good health, you might consider getting a qualified High Deductible Health Plan. The deductible—the amount you pay for medicine, office visits, and the like—is high, so the premiums are low. In addition, you can pay your deductibles with pre-tax dollars out of a Health Savings Account (HSA). This will almost double your buying power, since half your check is taken by the government before you even see it: 9.3% in state income tax (California), 28% in federal income tax, and 7.65% in Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) tax—a combined rate of 44.9%. You can shelter up to $2,850 for per year from state and federal taxes in your HSA. The money in the HSA account is yours to keep. The funds are not taxed, as long as you use them to pay medical expenses or withdraw them after age 65. The funds earn interest on a tax-deferred basis. Think of it as an IRA that you can use to pay medical expenses. To find a qualified plan, speak with a health insurance broker. A broker works with several insurers and can find the best plan, rates and coverage. To find a broker, log on to a website like http://www.healthinsurancewiz.com and fill out a form requesting a free quote. Your information will be sent to a broker in your area who will contact you. Good luck!
11 :
Like many stated above, even if you did get insurance, your glasses wouldn't be covered anyway. However, I am an independent broker for Ameriplan. Our Dental, Vision, Prescription & Chiropractic plan is only $19.95 month and you can save 30-60% on frames, lenses, and contacts. There is no waiting period, you can use it right away, and you don't have to be pregnant or have kids to qualify. (okay, not funny I know...) If you'd like to take a look, as well as search for providers in your area, go to http://www.mybenefitsplus.com/cberney Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. HTH~ Good Luck!
12 :
Hi! you need glasses, I can help! It isn't free though.. but it does give great discounts on vision 10-60% off the exam, your glasses,.. even 50% off Lasik if you wanted that too! The plan is only $19.95 a month and you can cancel if you want after you get the discounts! so you can use it for a month or 2 and then drop it. It's the fastest way to get something cheaper, unless you can find coupons off glasses in a local paper or something... There is no physical to do, no paperwork to fill out,and you only need a debit or credit card or checking account. Please check out the website if you're interested and my phone number is there under the contact me link... or fill out the form and i'll call you !

I need to get health insurance through the state where do i start?

You can go down to the family planning center in your town, and apply there. It depends on how long it will take becuase of the size of the town that you live in.
2 :
start on the internet, because every state is different.
In ny there is different plans like affinity, hudson health plan, medicaid, healthy ny. If you live in ny you can look up these plans online. good luck
3 :
I had to do the same thing. You need to go to your local DHS (Department of Human Services) or FIA(Family Independence Agency) office. It goes by what county you live in usually. You fill out a lot of paperwork and wait for hours before you talk to someone! It takes up to 45 days to be accepted( and usually it takes ALL 45) for insurance, don't worry though you shouldn't be denied. They usually give you a piece of paper when you leave the office that's a "garauntee of payment" which you can use to see the doctor before you are accepted. No where I tried would accept that paper. But don't get upset or worry about it (I did) it will be fine! With the state you can back-date up to 3 months. So, you can see the doctor without worrying because even if you get a bill the state will cover it once your insurance goes through. It's a lot of paperwork and can be very confussing but it's worth it.

Will my health insurance cover going to a psychiatrist regarding anxiety issues?

You need to check your benefits. If you don't have them in writing, call your insurance. See if you have mental health benefits and what you need to do as far as authorization (HMO). You also need to see if you will have a co-payment to pay and if there is a visit maximum.
2 :
it depends what insurance you have and the coverage. You can call them and ask them, go to their website too (some will have doctors that take your insurance listed on the site). You will have a copayment and they will also tell you how much it is depending on the treatment. remember the meds also carry a copay and depends on the tier of the medicine.
3 :
I am a health insurance agent in Utah. There is one plan that doesn't cover mental health visits, and three plans that do. Some cover them after the deductible at 50%, and some have no coverage at all. Jared Balis http://www.utahinsurance.org http://www.healthinsuranceinutah.com
4 :
My health insurance doesn't cover it. I get mental health services for a very low cost through Compassionate Care Clinic. It is worth looking into in your case. Visit the link I have under sources. Good luck.

some employers end benifits on last day worked, others keep it for 30 days. You can get COBRA for 6 months, either way, but it's more expensive.
2 :
until they notify you that it will be cancelled. about the same time, you will get something from COBRA to continue coverage.
so if you decide to get the COBRA, then it won't lapse. until you receive this, you should still have insurance. COBRA is expensive though so try and go to the Dr. if you need to before your regular coverage is up.
3 :
Usually your medical coverage continues until the end of the month. You'll likely receive information on continuing with healthnet on your own or continuing medical via Cobra coverage.
4 :
Ask your insurance agent.
5 :
30 days after termination of emplyment unless you opt for your cobra coverage. Its super expensive though so good luck!
6 :
When you self terminate or "quit" a job, your coverage will usually terminate upon your termination effective date. Meaning, if you give two weeks notice and your employer accepts, then your coverage will terminate on the last date of employement. However, when you are terminated by your employer you receive 30 days of additional coverage. It is in your best interest to take care of any necessary medical visits before that 30 days is up. Once it is expired you can purchase Cobra for up to 18 months (you have 60 days from the termination date to confirm your Cobra election). The problem is that Cobra is typically far more expensive than your old employer plan would have been if you were paying for that out of your own pocket. If you do not become re-employed you can find much less expensive plans that will afford you similar coverages and save yourself the ludicrous costs of Cobra.
7 :
Check with your HR department, they should have given you the option to continue with COBRA, but that depends on the company. The book "Healthcare for Less" by Michelle Katz has a whole section on this and it is easy to read. I bought the book because I was trying to choose a good health insurance for myslef that did not cost that much and learned so much more!!!! Yes, all the other answers are true, but there are so many other factors that you must take into consideration. I urge you to get "Healthcare for Less" at least as a guide...it has saved me quite a bit of money. You can order it on www.amazon.com for about $10.

I am wanting to buy health insurance and don't know were to start, Anyone have any recommendations? My Age is 24

1 :
I got mine by going to ehealthinsurance.com. They offer several different options for insurance and you can go by price or coverage.
2 :
Call the local Blue Cross Blue Shield in your state and ask them to explain the diffrent plans to you.
3 :
First, you need to decide how you are going to use the insurance. If you are generally healthy and are willing to outsource any prescriptions, you can get a very cheap individual health policy that is appropriate for your age. My site, http://www.health-insurance-low-cost.net, gives details on how to apply for insurance, and has plenty of health insurance quote links on this page: http://www.health-insurance-low-cost.net/insurance-plans.htm. Ehealthinsurance, and probably 6 other providers of health insurance quotes, are there. Good Luck!
4 :
Your best bet is to find a local agent to work with. They'll get to know your situation and be able to help you later if you have problems with your health plan. You'll want to work with an independent agent, meaning they can place you with any carrier in your state. To find an agent, ask friends who they've used. Or ask your friend's parents. Or you can find a local agent through the National Association of Health Underwriters, which is the national trade association for agents. Their site is www.NAHU.org. In the left column navigation hover your mouse over "Consumer Information" and then click on "Find an Agent." It's a free service. Good luck.

Health insurance?
My job shut down and I lost my health insurance! I have a pre-existing condition called histoplasmosis. I got health insurance that covered me for 5 doctor visits a year but it won't cover for the tests I have to take on my lungs! Please help me if you know of any insurance that I can get to help me!

1 :
but if you are already having an existing illness, the procedure can be quite difficult and complicated as the insurance company will ask lots of questions. suggest to you to ask your doctor to write your report better and not to write too bad... Good LUck!!
2 :
Histoplasmosis will result in a decline with most insurance companies in my area. Those that will insure you will not cover your pre-existing condition at all. It sounds like you have a basic indemnity policy, which is probably the best thing you can get. Your only other options are to get on another employer sponsored group plan or contact Medicaid. Depending upon what state you live in you might be able to qualify as Medically Needy even if your income is higher than the state guidelines.
3 :
Did you have a lapse in coverage for more than 60 days? If the answer is no...then you need to send into your new insurance company a HIPAA certificate of crediable coverage..........as long as you had coverage for more than 1 year on the previous policy you won't have pre-existing on your new policy. If your answer was yes....then you will have coverage for your pre-existing medical issues after you've had coverage for 1 year. It's a FEDERAL Mandate that prohibits a company from completely freezing out your medical condition for more than one year. I hope this helps!
4 :
Your best bet is for you, or if you married, for your spouse to obtain employment and regain your Insurance through your employer. This way you won't get denied for pre-existing conditions.
5 :
You may have several options: 1. If you are married this would be considered as a qualifying event for you to be added on to your spouses plan 2. You can find another job that offers insurance; keep in mind it may or may not have pre-x clause. 3. If you are unemployed and are needing medical attention, you should contact the Human Services Dept. in your area and see what types of programs are offered like medicaid; some state offer low cost insurance as well through government funding, for this the Human Services Dept. is your best bet.
