Do people know that most health insurance plans have free massage opportunities

Do people know that most health insurance plans have free massage opportunities?
I loveee getting massages. With the new healthcare law I wonder if people in the States will get to take advantage of all those free massages that come with health insurance.
What a great way to relax and do good things for you mind, body and soul.... Some insurance companies may require a doct's note first ( good for a year ) but the majority of doctors know the value of massage and will give you note recommending you get massage treatments.

But nothing is free! You already pay for the massages you are getting. They have it built into your premium. Most people only need catastrophic care like if you were to get cancer or have an accident. Now it looks like we have lost all control and the Federal government is going to make your plan obsolete and they will choose what is best for you. Just like the nanny state we are becoming!
2 :
Great. This is one of the reasons insurance premiums are spiraling out of control: it pays for services that are completely un-necessary like massage. No one NEEDS a massage. Some people WANT massage. If you WANT a massage, then you should pay for it. Medical insurance should cover only catastrophic loss, and patients should pay for all other services. That would eliminate rampant OVER UTILIZATION and make health care and health insurance affordable for everyone. You are wrong. The majority of doctors understand that massage is very temporary and does not result in permanent physiological changes. Most doctors resist writing prescriptions for un-necessary services, as they should. If you think the new mandatory health insurance bill is going to increase massage benefits, just look at Canada's system. Only one plan - the most expensive one - pays for 10 treatments a year. Canada's therapists go through a very intense medically based program, unlike the US...

How much is too much profit for health insurance companies to make

How much is too much profit for health insurance companies to make?
I keep hearing how some companies made billions in profits but how many billions worth of claims did they pay to earn that profit? The people that complain that they made billions in profit never say how much they had to spend to earn it. Apparently some people think they are supposed to pay for billions in claims and just break even? And those of you that want government supplied health care because it cuts out the insurance companies profits: Do you really think the US government would not have massive overhead costs? What does the government do now that is more efficient than the private sector, anything?

More than 400% profits since the year 2001 is TOO MUCH. Especially since, during that same time period, hundreds of thousands of Americans lost their insurance because they simply could not afford the premiums anymore. It is repulsive that you are defending the insurance industry.
2 :
Medical insurance companies operate at about 30% profit. Medicare 1%. You do the math.
3 :
Most on the left don't know the difference between profit and profit margin.
4 :
They don't spend as much as you think they do on payouts. They have high power attorneys who are paid big bucks to fight patient cases. That's why people are angry because instead of working with patients they are fighting against them.
5 :
Profit would be money left over after costs. Yes they make billions in PROFIT every year. I agree that government is not the solution.
6 :
Don't really care how much they earn until their profits are hurting the general public. Insurance companies should build up reserves for the meager years, like every sane person should.
7 :
Any profit earned by a government mandate forcing everyone to buy a service is too much. Can't have competition without the ability to withdraw from a market, ie, not purchase insurance. We can all put an end to the profits in health insurance by not buying any.
8 :
According to Obama, when an insurance company makes enough profit to stay in business, that is too much profit. He wants complete control of the health care so he can have complete control of the people.
9 :
If you allow them to compete across state lines, competition will lower premiums and reduce their profits. Why isn't 0bowma looking to improve the existing system instead of creating a whole new one?
10 :
Ideally the companies shouldn't exist at all. If there was no insurance, doctors would not be charging the maximum price for all procedures (which they do under the current system because the insurance companies pay it.) If insurance were not in the equation, costs would be FAR lower and people could actually afford to pay cash for their health care or set up easy payment plans. We don't need the government to ADD to the big bureaucratic mess! We need to tear down the insurance system altogether.
11 :
anything over .01 cent is stealing from the people. lets pay someone to pay our bills. how stupid.
12 :
It amazes me how well Obama's propaganda works on the Lemmings. Why aren't they screaming about the amounts hospitals & doctors charge? That's where the high costs originate. Do you people really not understand the concept of insurance? They are not just a middle man they are INSURING you and there to pay the giant bills when you need it. Like when you wreck car. Are you all in grade school? Glenda: If insurance companies are so repulsive stop sending them your money every month I am sure they can survive without you. They are a BUSINESS not a charity like you airheads seem to think.
13 :
I really don't understand Americans and their paranoid ignorance.
14 :
They shouldn't make any profit, because they don't actually do anything. They are middle men.
15 :
When people who can't afford their ridiculous premiums and have to drop dead from lack of care.
16 :
They are making a profit while hospitals are closing their doors because of bankruptcy. They do spend a lot on lawyers to fight paying for their clients. Basically the proposed bill does just reform the current system; I would prefer a complete overhaul. invisibl said, "Why aren't they screaming about the amounts hospitals & doctors charge? That's where the high costs originate." Doctors and hospital fees are based on their bottom line. If they are not being paid enough to make a living and pay their bills, either by ins co or patients then they have to increase their fee to make up the difference.
17 :
For me, it is not the amount of money they make. It is they way they increase profits by the use of death panels to deny care. It surprises me that so many Americans seem not to be aware about Obama’s healthcare plans [a]. During the election, he campaigned for these changes stating that he felt it was unfair to have a system where insurance companies try to escape paying claims and was elected to bring in changes [b]. First of all, too many people do not know that Obama wants to make insurance more available to all. His system is similar to that which works in Holland, Taiwan [c] and Switzerland. It works there and private healthcare companies provide most the insurance to the people there. FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [d]. FACT – insurance companies admit that they push up costs, buy politicians and do not pay out for many claims when they should [e]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [f]. That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, the Netherlands, Cuba, Switzerland, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage. And no western European nation with universal healthcare has moved away from it. And the sad thing is, that the insurance companies have spent loads of money to fight these reforms [g] and loads of politicians are taking the thirty pieces of silver from them to fight the reforms, rather than fight for the health of the American people. Remember, I back my facts up with evidence. Those who say they are wrong tend not to. If they are wrong, e-mail me with proof and let me know.

What are you going to do if you cant afford health insurance? How are you going to afford a fine

What are you going to do if you cant afford health insurance? How are you going to afford a fine?
For those of you that say its like being required to have car insurance: You can decide to not own a car and use other means to get around.
And states only require you to get car insurance to cover damage you may cause to others not yourself. To opt out of the mandated health insurance do you have to die? This will NEVER pass.

1 :
Um, the fine is ONLY for those who can afford insurance and refuse to get it. While I don't love that plan, the fact is, if they don't have insurance, we are stuck paying their medical bills. If someone cannot afford insurance--even with subsidies--and doesn't qualify for aid, they will not be assessed any fine.
2 :
You will make the needed sacrifices. There's a thought. Make a sacrifice to get what you need. Hmmm, I think that was what we used to do.
3 :
the fine will be deducted from your paycheck or withheld your federal tax refund. This MUST pass.
4 :
With Obama's plans, insurance will be cheaper, but yes, you will get fined if you do not get cover. I am always amazed how many Americans seem not to be aware about the real healthcare issues relying instead on FOX and other sources to spread lies about the healthcare system of the USA and those abroad. I mean, if healthcare in nations with universal coverage is so bad, why do they keep it? Obama wants to make insurance more available to all and change the system so that it gives the American people value for money [1]. He also wants change so that the insurance companies find it harder to get out of paying for treatment. The system he is proposing looks similar to that which works in Taiwan where private companies are involved in providing healthcare [2]. Obama campaigned on reforming the healthcare system. He said he wanted to make insurance more available and he was elected by the American people to do this [3]. FACT - the US has higher death rates for kids both for kids aged under one and those under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [4,5]. FACT – American insurance companies push up prices and work to stop paying out claims on those they cover [6]. FACT - the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [7]. That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in any western nation with universal health coverage. If you do not like the policies that Obama was elected to bring in, he can always be voted out of office in 2012. But if you disagree with the facts, please let me know. I am always willing to learn, but please provide proof. None of those who disagree with me have been able to do that so far.

What kind of supplemental health insurance should I get for my trip to Argentina next month

What kind of supplemental health insurance should I get for my trip to Argentina next month?
I am a student with a very basic health insurance plan that doesn't cover me while abroad. I will be spending time in Argentina next month and am looking to purchase some sort of health insurance that will cover any relatively serious health problems (i.e. hospitalization required) incurred during my trip. Any suggestions for me?

I have traveled alot lately and found that AAA is a great bargain. Not only have I used it in the U.S. for towing, flat tires, etc. But they offer free books on travel, insurance, travel agents, etc. I believe it's $60/year for one person. Travel insurance to Indonesia for 2 weeks for my wife and I was about $25. It covered emergency care and transport to the nearest U.S. facility if needed, up to $50,000.

Will my Health Insurance sue the father of my baby for pregnancy-related expenses

Will my Health Insurance sue the father of my baby for pregnancy-related expenses?
I am 7 months pregnant, and my partner and I are not married for complicated reasons and will not be married when the baby is born. I recently heard that my insurance company might sue him for medical expenses related to the pregnancy (he doesn't have health insurance).
Is this true? Has this happened to any of you?
Pregnancy - 6 Answers

1 :
I really don't think this is true... I have never heard of this I have been battling legally with my son's father for about 4 years over expenses and my insurance co never said they would sue.
2 :
No, it doesn't work that way. Your insurance will pay for you and your baby.
3 :
They can't. He isn't the patient and has no financial responsibility to your medical needs in your pregnancy. I mean what would it matter if you were married or not? If you were married, then still couldn't make him pay for expenses...that's what insurance is for!!! You pay the monthly premium and they pay for everything else. You insurance is full of it.
4 :
Hmm I don't know where you heard this but it is most definately not true. First of all, during your pregnancy there is only one test available to determine DNA, which would be a deciding factor in this. This test is EXTREMELY expensive, and risky for you and your baby because it involves an amniocentesis (LARGE needle being inserted in your womb). Secondly, even if they could prove he is the father of your unborn child, the insurance company does not have the right to hold him responsible for your medical care. Depending on what state you live in, this will depend on whether or not you are receiving government assistance. It gets a little more complicated after that. But to answer your question...NO they cannot sue him.
5 :
sorry but that's definitely not true.
6 :
If your health insurance is in any way government funded ..he will be liable for 1/2 the pregnancy / birthing expenses and they will obtain a court judgment saying he owes that amount after paternity has been established. His paychecks can then be garnished accordingly. In Minnesota, medical support judgments are handled by the same office as child support. I know this because my guy is still paying medical support on his daughter (who is 16) because she was born premature and the hospital bills were over $250,000. He was never married to her mother ... but she has been on various types of public support, including using public medical insurance her entire life, so he owes 1/2 of these original medical bills.

How do tourists coming to America get health insurance

How do tourists coming to America get health insurance?
Particularly to Arizona. I have family coming from out of the country to Arizona to visit, where do I go to get them health insurance? Is American Visitor Insurance trustable, or simply a scam?
Other - United States - 4 Answers

1 :
They get a travel insurance....
2 :
They usually have to get it from a company in their home country.
3 :
They have to contact the insurance company (or government agency) that usually covers their medical bill in their home country, and ask if they cover medical bills from the US. If the answer is "yes", then follow-up questions have to be asked: - what is covered and what isn't (all medical bills or only "real" emergencies)? - is there a maximum coverage sum? - how much are non-medical parts of bills (e.g. hospital beds, hospital food, etc.) allowed to cost? If the answer is "no", then they need to ask an insurance company or a travel agent for holiday insurance policies. Here, again, same questions as above apply. Two important things to know: - many companies want to make sure that only genuine tourists are buying their policies, so they restrict their coverage to persons staying a short amount of time (e. g. 30 days, 40 days, etc.). If there are more days between your flight and your returen flight than is accepted in the policy, you automatically lose coverage, even for the first part of your holidays. - insurance or not, US hospitals may insist on you coughing up all the money beforehand! Because they don't know the foreign companies and rather ask the patient's family for cash in advance. This can (on rare occasions) be avoided by getting (before travelling) an English language letter from the insurance company naming a well-known US-based partner company that guarantees the payment.

How soon I can use my employer supported health insurance

How soon I can use my employer supported health insurance?
I am going to start a new job from the last week of June. I am getting health care through my employer. I am wondering, would I be able to use my health insurance from July 1st? If I have a doctor visit on July 1st, would that be covered by my new insurance? My main question is, is there a "waiting period" for an insurance actually become active, after I am being insured?
Insurance - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Some plans have waiting periods, some do not. Some take a while for all the paperwork to go through, so they may not cover until everything is set up properly. You might be able to call the company and ask what the terms of the health care plan is, or you may have to wait to ask when you start. I suggest having a firm answer to this question before you start making appointments.
2 :
Every plan is diffent. You need to ask your employer. Typically it is at least 90 days.
3 :
That will depend on the guidelines that your HR department has established. It is not uncommon for their to be a waiting period or even a period where you have coverage but your pre-existing conditions are not covered immediately (this 2nd scenario usually only happens when you have not had continuous coverage for the 6 months prior to joining the group plan). You will want to consider a short term health insurance plan so that you can have coverage until the waiting period is over. Be sure that you don't leave a gap in your coverage. Here is some more information on short term medical insurance plans:
4 :
No, the effective date of coverage is the effective date of coverage. But most employers don't make your coverage effective, until you've been there a month . . . or three, or six.

2 :
There is no one best company for everyone; if there was that would be the only company in existence. There are hundreds of plans and dozens of companies available. You'll want to visit a local independent agent that works with all the major companies. The agent can find the best policy for your situation and budget. They can explain the benefits of the different policies. The plans and premiums are exactly the same whether you use an agent or not.
