Where does government forcing its citizens to buy health insurance fit into a free society

Where does government forcing its citizens to buy health insurance fit into a free society?
After all, we are free, right? Free to choose? In a free society, wouldn't the decision whether to have health insurance be left to a free individual and not on mommy government as Comrade Obama wants it to be?

It doesn't fit in because we are not free in the "divided states of america."
2 :
its not forcing you . you'll wish you got coverage, but they are not forcing you and how many situations are there where people dont want health insurance

Where does forcing me to pay your insurance only because I have insurance? You don't have health insurance? Don't go to a doctor or hospital. I can't afford you guys anymore.
4 :
It doesn't. Period, it is just another socialist takeover by the people who want 'Obamaism' (Thinly disguised socialism with a ruling oligarchy controlling the country)
5 :
Yes, and how is it a right when you have no choice?

The "Free" is just an illusion. Do you own a car? or plan to own a car? If so, whether you like it or not, you have no choice or "freedom" to choose whether to get insurance or not. Whether you like it or not you have to have car insurance, doesn't matter from what company. We don't live in a totally "Free" society. Wake up and stop being ignorant. We have good freedoms compared to other nations, but there is no country on earth that is entirely "Free"...unless if you're a roaming nomadic tribe.

Patches, welcome to the United Socialist States of America. You'll have a choice, it's just that you wont like their second offer. The penalty for not having insurance will be the full amount that you did not pay. And you still will not have insurance, so you'll have to pay again.

No one is forcing you...

Are you a Liberatrian? If not, you're beating the wrong horse. The Republicans don't have a terribly good record of maintaining a "free" society either. The war on drugs? Anti-choice for women?

UNDER OBAMA'S PLAN IF YOU DON'T HAVE INSURANCE YOU WILL BE FINED $2500. i WONDER WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN SOMEONE W/O INSURANCE DECIDES TO GO TO THE ER? WILL THEY BE BILLED AND THEN FINED?

Where does the government forcing me to drive under a certain speed fit into a free society? Germany has no speed limits on its autobahns, and they do just fine. I cannot believe the audacity of this, and to think I will be FINED if I am caught exceeding it. UN-frickin-believable!!! What a bunch of commies. I should be free to choose whatever speed I feel is appropriate.

Another Mandate that you must comply with, when is enough enough?

Government wants to change "free society" to "free health care" providing coverage to the young and healthy to cut costs. Of course, They will send us the bill for care not received.

The same government that forces its citizens to: 1. pay taxes 2. purchase mandatory automobile insurance 3. pay taxes 4. register guns 5. pay taxes 6. register automobiles 7. pay taxes 8. get a driver's license in order to drive a vehicle 9. pay taxes 10. obey the rules of the road. 11. pay taxes 12. not murder, rape, rob other people 13. pay taxes ... just to name a few... oh and did I mention... pay taxes? Republican from before she was born... and PROUD of it.

It doesnt. A free society by definition would have very little government intrusion into our lives. When democrats are in power, they supplant individual freedoms with government management, they suppress the private economic sector and promote government programs and controls (regulations). It is all about power. By making more and more people dependent on federal government, democrats make themselves careers in govt bureaucracy. Democrats give themselves lifetime careers in government at taxpayer expense or help friends in the private sector with large taxpayer paid contracts.
